Anton Therkildsen
Anton picking day 2006Anton’s career in wine may be traced back to many things: a family of avid wine consumers, some early experience in hospitality, a liking for practical science and a great desire to flee Sydney. He headed straight to Charles Sturt University from high school to study Wine Science. A vintage at the Hunter Valley was followed by what was supposed to be a short vintage job at Campbell’s Wines in Rutherglen. The opportunity arose for this to develop into a long term job and further to a love of Rutherglen, its expressive fruit and great characters.Anton as a winemaker has a very hands on approach. He aims to create wines of character, wines of soul. He considers his job to be the custodian of the wine. He works with the fruit to allow it to express its flavour, structure and individuality. His belief is that good wine starts in the vineyard with good fruit, moves into the winery with good oak (and TLC) and finishes in the bottle with good luck!

Antoinette Del Popolo
Antoinette VintageAntoinette is a General Practitioner in Corowa. She came to the area in 1997 and enjoyed the job and area so much she stayed. Her love of wine started as a consumer and has developed further since meeting Anton. Antoinette looks after the books at Valhalla Wines, writes the newsletters and helps develop the marketing and sales strategies. She plays the balancing game between this, her job as a GP, work at Wodonga maternity unit and of course her important job as a mum to her 2 beautiful children.

‘The Cellar Rats’

Josh and Dave vintage 2007Henning Therkildsen, Josh Whelan, David Wood and Leif Therkildsen have spent time over the past few years helping out at vintage time. Hand plunging and hose dragging are their specialties. Henning has an additional skill as ‘Chief Basket Presser’. We look forward to their continued support as we move into our own winery this vintage.

The Vineyard Crew
Picking Crew 2005So many other friends and family have assisted over the past 6 years. It has been all hands on deck to help plant the vines, harvest the grapes and even the rare individual who is happy to help with pruning. We thank them all for their time and support. Now is the time to start enjoying the fruit of our labour.
